What do you like about the races / Wagga Gold Cup?
Horse racing has always been synonymous with Australian culture. There is nothing quite like a day at the races, particularly in country Australia. Invariably country horse racing involves long drives, catching up with friends, plenty of beer and champagne, getting dressed up and having a punt on horses you’ve never heard of. Race meetings bring the whole community together like no other sport. Wagga’s Gold Cup is all of that but on a much bigger scale. Nearly everyone in the city has friends travel and the whole town buzzes all week. I’ve been to races everywhere from Ireland to Randwick, to Melbourne and Carrathool but there is something very special about Wagga’s Gold Cup.

What do you like about the races / Wagga Gold Cup?
The opportunity to get dressed up and enjoy a great day out with friends and the day has a great atmosphere. The races, especially the Gold Cup brings alot of people to Wagga which is great for the tourism aspect of the city. It puts Wagga Wagga on the map and enables people to see what we have to offer. It's a great day to socialise and network with people who you may not see very often and provides the chance to meet new people

With a family history very much into the gallops I have grown up with a keen interest in race days, with my uncle being a big influence. Now being much older I can appreciate the fun that a day with mates at the races can be! Not to mention winning a quid or two.
