MEDIA RELEASE: MTC FAREWELLS MTC TRACK MANAGER MARK HART

December 15, 2025

The Murrumbidgee Turf Club (MTC) officially said farewell to Mark Hart, who has concluded his 20-year role at the Club after stepping into the role on 14th June 2005.

During this time, Mark oversaw 19 Wagga Gold Cup Carnivals and established himself as one of Australia’s leading track managers, a richly deserved honor as there is no one more passionate about track management and their role at the MTC.

Throughout his highly successful career, Mark received numerous awards from the Australian Racecourse Manager’s Association, including the prestigious Racecourse Managers’ Award for regional racecourses in 2010, 2015 and 2024 as well as the Country Curators Scholarship in 2012.

MTC Chief Executive Officer Jason Ferrario reflected on Mark’s incredible career.

“Along with a 26-year stint at the Junee Golf Club as a greenkeeper, firstly as an apprentice and then as a superintendent, Mark developed 46 years of turf knowledge, much of which he has passed onto his fortunate co-workers.”

“A man of great passion towards his field of expertise, a loving family man and a bloody great bloke to boot, Mark will be very much missed by everyone at the MTC and within the racing industry”

The MTC honored Mark’s achievements on Tuesday, 9 December with his final race meeting, before his official retirement on Friday, 12 December, where he handed over the reins to Mitch Castles, who has worked alongside Mark for 11 years and is looking forward to following in his footsteps.

The Board of Directors, Management and Staff of the MTC wish Mark Hart a happy and healthy retirement and all the best for his future endeavours.
