The Big 3 Walk

The Big 3 Walk
Friday 14th Jun 2024

Murrumbidgee Turf Club CEO, Jason Ferrario, will be honouring his brother
Rick Keast by participating in The Big Three Trek, a 150km, 3-day, charity walk
from the Sydney Cricket Ground to the Newcastle Knights home ground
McDonald Jones Stadium from June 14-16, to raise awareness and $$ for brain
cancer research. The trek is held during the NRL’s Beanies for Brain Cancer
Round, through the Mark Hughes Foundation. Mark, a former Knights player
and brain cancer survivor, and his foundation, have raised millions of $$
towards research to find a cure for this horrible disease.

Rick sadly passed away in 2009, following a courageous battle against brain
cancer. He was a Captain/Coach of group 9 first grade teams at Wagga Brothers,
Junee Diesels, Temora Dragons and Turvey Park Lions. He led the Brethren to the
1995 Group 9 Premiership, whilst winning many premierships with the Diesels
throughout his junior days.

He was a passionate family man, much loved by family and friends and very
devoted to his role as a Country Rugby League Development Officer for the
Riverina. Helping develop junior rugby league competitors as both players and
people gave him great pride.

Rick also loved the racing game and for many years worked for various
bookmakers as both a penciler and bagman across SDRA racetracks.
Jason wishes to play his part in helping raise $$ for a cause very
close to his heart. If you are able to, please visit the below link or
scan the QR code and donate to such a worthy cause and thank
you in advance for your kindness!!
